2009, yep yeni bir yil geliyor! Kipir kipir yerimde duramiyorum!! 2008 yilina ait anilarimi bir an once geride birakip "Sil Bastan" yeni yile baslamak istiyorum....

WoW! I wouldn't think a movie would make me feel so sad... Edward Norton and Naomi Watts are both great in this movie. "The Painted Veil,'' is based on the Somerset Maugham novel. In this instance the ''evolved'' love comes at great expense, enormous pain and with an unusual twist.This is a film to lose yourself in. It will stay with you.

NP-complete

I was reading one of my favorite blogs this morning and Jeff was talking about NP-complete problems which are basically the ones that no fast solutions to them is known. They are "solve-able" but the time required to do that can be years... Hmmm, that sounds so familiar :) My job hunting is becoming more and more like an NP-complete problem lately. I am trying different algorithms to make the time shorter but it seems like every time I try harder I get a longer waiting period.
It's time to come up with an approximation algorithm to finally solve this NP-complete problem for good.

Atlanta'da hayat bu kadar monoton olmak zorunda mi?
Bu gunesli ama serin pazar gununde her zamanki sabah rutinleri olan kahvalti edip internette gezindikten sonra parka gidip kosup sonra eve gelip elime kahvemi alip TV ve bilgisayar karsisina oturma eylemlerini gerceklestirme processindeyim. Bu monotonluklari bazen farkli parklara giderek farkli yerlerde kosarak degisiklik getirmeye calisiyorum :)) Aci ama gercek :)
Sonra dusunmeye basladim, eger simdi Istanbul'da olsam Atlanta'da yasadigim bu pazar gununde yaptiklarimdan farkli olarak ne yapardim diye dusundum. Ve bir anda hem korktum hem mutlu oldum! Gozumu kapattim, ve kendimi Suadiye'de evimden cikip yuruyerek sahile parka kosmaya gittigimi hayal ettim, deniz kenarinda kosmak!!! sonra donus yolunu acaba Kalamis'dan evime yapabilir miyim dusundum? Burda 5km hic durmadan ayni ruhsuz parkda kosabiliyorsam bizim civil civil Istanbul'da deniz kenarinda cok rahat 5km'den daha fazla kosabilirim. Zaten en yoruldugum yerde dolmusa binerim :))) Gozunu sevdigim Mass transportation!!! Aaa bir de donus yolunda Beyaz Firin'a ugramadan olmaz tabi!
Eger hava guzelse Bebek'e krep yemeye gidilebilirdi bu pazar gununde... ya da Yildiz Konaginda (ismini yanlis hatirlamiyorsam, Ortakoy Besiktas arasinda bir yerdeydi) bruncha gidilebilirdi bugun.... Daha neler neler.... Istanbul'a donme zamani geldi mi?

Change is Hard

Google finally introduced its 'open source' browser; Chrome. It looks like it is very promising based on the functionalities they listed on Chrome's demo. The multi process architecture is what got my attention most. Tabs can't talk to each other, can't steal info. Isolated tabs and also when 1 tab goes down the others stay up. My Firefox is failing to do that! But how about memory?
Because doesn't isolating mean opening a separate instance of the browser for each tab? If yes, it must be eating lots of memory...
I haven't tried Chrome myself yet, all I'm doing is the research now. Change is hard, even upgrading is a challenge itself :) So I am trying to come up with convincing performance and functionality improvements to switch.

Nasil yani?

Bugun turk gazetesinde bir baslik okudum, soyle diyordu : Ciller'e benzemek icin bicak altina yatti.. Ilk sorum Nasil Yani oldu :) Devaminda da diyor ki iyi olduguna inandigi baska projeler gelirse onlar icin de bicak altina yatarmis. Ben diyecek bir soz bulamiyorum, insan 24 yasinda 7 saat suren bir operasyonu sirf bir 'defile' icin gecirir mi? Bu insanlarin akillari nerde? Tamam sive, kilo alma kilo verme gibi kalici olmayan calismalara giriliyor da ilk defa plastik operasyon gecirenini duydum. Ben mi yanlis dusunuyorum hala anlamis degilim. Komik, yazik... Nasil yani???

Training for 10K marathon

I started training for 10K today and I have 6 weeks to get into shape to run 10K which is about 6 miles. If I can do 5 miles at the end of this 6 week that would be a success for me. We'll see...

flashback

Hayatimda yine flashbackler yasiyorum su son gunlerde..
Yaklasik 1 ay once ortaokul ikide okudugum kitabi tekrar okudum ve hayretler icinde kaldim. Nasil boyle karanlik, nasil boyle duygu yuklu kitabi okudum diye kendime sordum, hatta o yasta ne anlamis olabilirim ki bu yazilanlardan diye dusunurken gecen hafta tekrar o ortaokul zamanlarima benzer olaylari yasayinca o zaman anladim :)
Yine o gunlerdeki gibi baska dunyalara gitmek istiyorum, yeni mekanlar, yeni insanlarla tanismak istiyorum. Hersey yepyeni olsun, yepyeni Pinar'la....
